Owens Makes Pro Mazda Transfer To Team Pelfrey

Los Angeles, CA – Raoul Owens has completed a mid-season move to Team Pelfrey in order to keep his 2015 Pro Mazda title hopes alive.

In a constantly evolving sport where the finest margins of performance are critical to success, DCM has taken the difficult decision to move its British driver from JDC Motorsports to Team Pelfrey. Completing the transfer within a week, Henry James of DCM said “my focus is to negotiate the optimum solutions for our drivers and commercial partners. This has been a strategic decision that required careful attention and experience to carry out. Pelfrey have been on the podium in 4 out of 5 races so far this season and they already have a personal relationship with Raoul, so the move is a boost for Raoul and the team.”

Having previously tested with the team during the winter off-season, Raoul is not new to the Team Pelfrey crew. The manager of the Florida based team, Nigel Tuckey, has been enthusiastic about the latest signing of his team’s third driver, which undoubtedly opens up Team Pelfrey’s opportunity to win this year’s constructors’ title.

Speaking about the news, Raoul said “although leaving JDC was tough, I am still focused and excited at what the remainder of the season has in store for me. This season has been difficult up to this point and I want to turn it around with strong finishes and boost myself up in the drivers championship. I have worked with Team Pelfrey before so it won’t be like starting totally new with them which I think is good. Hopefully this weekend I can add to their impressive tally of podiums so far this season.”

Currently placed P2 and P3 in the overall Pro Mazda standings, Santiago Urrutia and Pato O’Ward are Raoul’s new teammates ahead of Rounds 6, 7 and 8, which take place this week at the Indianapolis Grand Prix Circuit. Despite it being the first time Raoul races in Indianapolis, he hopes to settle in with his new team and get up to speed quickly. His objective for the weekend is to finish on the podium.
